ZENworks imaging splash screen no longer shows after modifying the initrd

Situation

ZENworks Imaging splash screen no longer shows after modifying the initrd file.

Resolution

The spl file will need to be appended to the initrd after the initrd has been gzipped back up.
  1. Open the bootcd.iso file with WinISO
  2. Go to /boot/i386/loader dirctory
  3. Extract the 0800600.spl file
  4. On a SLES 10 server copy the spl file along with the modified initrd. See Unable to mount initrdand documentation Modifying Imaging resource files for modifying the initrd.
  5. Type the following command once the files have been copied. 'cat 0800600.spl>> initrd.
