Symptom

Cannot Set Simple Password through LDAP after upgrading to NMAS 2.3.9

Error: Unable to change or set password, err = illegal ds name (-610)

Error: Illegal ds name -610

PutLoginConfig: -610

NMAS_PutLoginConfig: -610

ERROR: -1697 spmAgentSetPassword failed

Change

Novell Modular Authentication Service version 2.3.9

Cause

Customer updated NMAS 239 and immediately noticed there password change process with LDAP was broke.

Note

Steps to Duplicate:

1. Patch  to NMAS 2.3.9, or apply nw65sp4a.exe

2.  Change Simple password see Solution How to Change the NMAS Simple Password

Fix

This issue has been addressed by Novell Engineering and is scheduled to be released to the public in NMAS 2.40 shipping with NW65sp5 and OESsp2

As a workaround download NMAS 2.3.8 and copy NMAS.NLM into sys:\system and restart the server.
