Novell NetWare 6.5 Support Pack 7
Novell NetWare 6.5 Support Pack 8

Situation

What are SPMNWCC.NLM and SPMDCLNT.NLM modules used for?

Resolution

These two modules:

-  Are used to set and search for Universal Passwords

-  Redirect legacy-based login methods into NMAS methods.  For example, when an NLM running on a NetWare server needs to login to eDirectory, it may call older NWCC* APIs in NETNLM32.NLM to get that done.  NETNLM32 can still use it's legacy methods to accomplish that login, but if it senses the presence of SPMNWCC.NLM, it will redirect those through NMAS instead.  Similarly, some older DCLIENT methods of login will be redirected through NMAS if SPMDCLNT.NLM is present.
