The UNIX Information Tool is a UNIX script that gathers UNIX system information and Novell UNIX product configuration files. This tool will help you troubleshoot UNIX related problems by concatenating configuration files and system information into one log file. This log file can then be reviewed for potential problems.

Installation Instructions

1) Download the tarred compressed file to your UNIX system.
2) Extract the file using the following command:

    gzip -dc unixinf1.tgz | tar xvf -

To run:

1) Log in as root.
2) Change to the directory where unixinfo was extracted.
3) Type ./unixinfo
4) Include the /tmp/unixinfo.log file when you open an incident with NTS.

    unixinfo [directory | filename]

Default log file: /tmp/unixinfo.log
If you specify a directory, then unixinfo.log will be placed in that directory. You can also specify a complete path and filename for an alternate log file.

Before calling eDirectory for UNIX technical support, verify you have run the unixinfo script and have the log file ready. The default log file location is /tmp/unixinfo.log.
