A Lan Server administrator was repeately (every few minutes) being notified that users were attempting to write a file called SCCTEST.TMP to the shared code directory (WPC20). The users have only read and file scan rights in this directory.

This was occuring when a user invoked the SCC viewer technology in GroupWise. SCCTEST.TMP is a temp file created by the SCC viewers. The viewers initially try to create the file in the WPC20 directory as a way of ascertaining what rights are available. If SCCTEST.TMP cannot be created, the program attempts to create it in the windows directory. After successfully creating this file the program creates SC58VW.CA in the same directory.
