NetWare 6 Support Pack 1
NetWare 6 (SP1) console screen complains that NetStorage is using task zero
Whenever trying to load and use NetStorage, the following appears on the server console:
Warning. File ieentry.html opened or created using task zero. Choose another task.
Ocassionally, you will also see the following error:
Warning. File ieindex.html opened or created using task zero. Choose another task.
This error did not appear on the NetStorage server until after applying NetWare 6 Support Pack 1
The task zero error is new to NW6SP1. The OS Development enabled the task zero error parameter in order to detect any application using the zero process. In this particular case, the error is coming from files used by NetStorage. Specifically, you can find these files in SYS:Webapps\NetStorage\. The files are ieentry.html and ieindex.html. The zero process is considered unreliable for running applications. Therefore, any applications using process zero should be modified to use a specified process other than zero. This does not occur on all NW6 (SP1) servers and appears to be cosmetic. (In other words, it does not appear to degradate the performance or functionality of NetStorage.)
This has been reported to the Development Team responsible for NetStorage.
