Pre-installation requirements, as well as instructions for installing iSPI for Traffic, are documented in the installation guide provided in Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) format. The document file is included in the root directory on the product's installation media as: Traffic_spi_InstallGuide_en.pdf.
Before installing the iSPI forTraffic, make sure that your system meets the following minimum requirements:
Below are the different tiers of managed network environments and the hardware required by the iSPI Performance for Traffic for supporting these environments. Managed environments bigger than the very large tier are not supported without additional HP approval. You can also refer to NNMi Support Matrix.
Note: If both NNMi or iSPI Performance for Metrics components are installed on the same system or shares the disk space of the system, the system requirements provided in the iSPI Performance for Traffic Support matrix is in addition to the specified system requirements in the support matrices for NNMi and iSPI Performance for Metrics.

**<TrafficInstallDir> is configured during installation of iSPI Performance for Traffic (Master Collector or Leaf Collector) on Windows (C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\HP BTO Software\ by default)
***<TrafficDataDir> is configured during installation of iSPI Performance for Traffic (Master Collector or Leaf Collector) on Windows (C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\HP\HP BTO Software by default). You can refer to the HP NNM iSPI Performance for Traffic Installation Guide to configure these parameters.
^^<iSPI Performance for metrics DataDir> is configured during installation of iSPI Performance for Metrics on Windows (C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\HP\HP BTO Software by default). You can also set the data archival period in the Configuration utility of the system.
To change the jboss maximum java heap size or other Java Virtual Machine parameters, follow these steps:
Note: For a larger deployment environment, the jboss maximum java heap size can be increased to improve performance of CPU, RAM, and Disk Space requirements. Do not make the jboss maximum java heap size value too large, because the operating system may crash as jboss accesses memory.
For more information about tuning the jboss maximum java heap size, see http://java.sun.com/docs/hotspot/gc5.0/gc_tuning_5.html
/sbin/sysctl –w kernel.shmmax=300000000
To make this change permanent (after a reboot), edit the /etc/sysctl.conf file and add the following entry:
kernel.shmmax = 300000000
cat /proc/meminfo | grep Swap
command. To adjust, use the parted
and mkswap
commands.
The iSPI for Traffic does not support running on a high availability system. It can operate in a environment where NNMi only is running on high availability systems as well as where NNMi and iSPI Performance for Metrics are both running on high availablity systems. Please see the NNMi Deployment Guide and iSPI for Traffic Installation Guide on how to install and configure iSPI for Traffic for operating with NNMi / iSPI Performance for Metrics in high availability systems. The following configurations are supported on Operating Systems:
The database(embedded or Oracle)selection for the iSPI for Traffic should be same as NNMi. The Oracle database instance must be different from NNMi database instance. See the iSPI for Traffic Installation Guide for more information.
The Real-time Line Graphs (Actions → Graphs) and the SNMP MIB Browser (Tools → Browse MIBs) require the Adobe Flash Player Plug-in version 10.0.32.18 or higher. The Adobe Flash Player is available from www.adobe.com/go/getflash/.
The iSPI for Traffic can be installed on a system configured for non-English language. The iSPI for Traffic is not localized; therefore, iSPI for Traffic specific strings appear in English. However, the NNMi-specific views and strings appear in the non-English language. For the list of languages supported by NNMi, see NNMi Support Matrix, 9.00.
