This document provides an overview of the supported devices for HP Network Node Manager i series Smart Plug-in for IP Multicast version 8.10. The information provided here is similar to NNMi support matrix with additional iSPI for IP Multicast specific information.
The NNMi 8.10 is required for the installation of the iSPI for IP Multicast. The iSPI for IP Multicast, version 8.10 is supported with NNMi. Ensure to install the NNMi and iSPI for IP Multicast in the same management server.
This document is intended to augment the Release Notes. You can find both the Support Matrix and the Release Notes at the root directory of the installation media.

Pre-installation requirements, as well as instructions for installing iSPI for IP Multicast, are documented in the installation guide provided in Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) format. The document file is included on the product's installation media as: Mcast_install_guide_en.pdf.
Before installing the iSPI for IP Multicast, make sure that your system meets the following minimum requirements:
Below are the two tiers of managed network environments and the hardware required by the iSPI for IP Multicast for supporting these environments. Managed environments bigger than the Large tier are not supported without additional HP approval. Make sure to check the NNMi Support Matrix.
The iSPI for IP Multicast hardware requirements mentioned in the below table is in addition to NNMi hardware requirements mentioned in the NNMi Support Matrix.

*<NnmInstallDir> is configured during installation on Windows (C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\HP BTO Software\ by default).
For example: If you have 5K nodes and 100K interfaces in the managed environment, which is Medium scale in NNMi 8.10, you will require 16GB RAM as specified in NNMi 8.10 Support Matrix. If 1k nodes and 15k interfaces are IP Multicast nodes and interfaces, then you require additional 4GB RAM along with 16GB RAM (NNMi specific requirement) so for the iSPI for IP Multicast, overall requirement is 20GB.
**<NnmDataDir> is configured during installation on Windows (C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\HP\HP BTO Software by default), Disk space estimates are when using embedded PostgreSQL. If using an external Oracle database, only 10-20 GB is required for NnmDataDir.
To change the jboss Maximum Java Heap Size (‑Xmx) or other Java Virtual Machine parameters, follow these steps:
The iSPI for IP Multicast can run on certain high availability systems with additional configuration. See the NNMi Deployment Guide on how to install and configure NNMi with high availability systems. The following configurations are supported on Operating Systems for Microsoft: Microsoft Cluster Services 2003.
The database(embedded or Oracle) for iSPI for IP Multicast should be same as that of NNMi. The Oracle database instance must be different from NNMi database instance. See the iSPI for IP Multicast Installation Guide for more information.
The iSPI for IP Multicast can be installed and used on a machine configured for non-English language. The iSPI for IP Multicast is not localized; therefore, iSPI for IP Multicast specific strings appear in English. However, the NNMi specific views and strings appear in the local language. For supported languages by NNMi, see Support Matrix of NNMi.
The iSPI for IP Multicast supports the Cisco routers running IOS Version 12.x or above with the following MIBs:
Note: The iSPI for IP Multicast discovers only devices that support the device profile of NNMi.
